King Charles III bans foie gras

Boycott of the royal family. King Charles III avoids foie gras.

Did you know? In November 2022, many European media reported on the boycott of French foie gras by King Charles III. The animal rights organization PETA announced that King Charles III would henceforth refrain from having foie gras served in his royal residences.

The PETA organization has long denounced the process of force-feeding geese and ducks, causing serious side effects in the animals, including shortness of breath, neck injuries, liver bleeding, and even heart failure. The resulting foie gras is a pathologically enlarged liver that is up to ten times larger than that of a healthy animal.

The monarch has confirmed the ban on foie gras, a controversial food, which will no longer be present at Buckingham Palace, at Sandringham in the east of England, at Balmoral in Scotland, at Hillsborough in Northern Ireland, or at Windsor near London. Charles, known for his commitment to environmental protection, has long been an opponent of foie gras. Although production is banned in Great Britain, sale or import remains permitted.
